Hi all,
As you all know, Wikimedia cares about how the trademarks of Wikimedia (the
logos etc) are being used, but at the same time likes to enable the
community to do what it is best at - including organizing Wiki Loves
Monuments!
Unfortunately it is unavoidable to have a requirement to ask permission to
use the Wikimedia trademarks when organizing Wikimedia stuff like Wiki
Loves Monuments - but the Wikimedia Foundation is trying to make this as
lightweight as possible.
All the chapters have already sufficient permission to use the trademarks,
so don't have to bother about this. However, if you're organizing Wiki
Loves Monuments in a country *without* a recognized chapter, please get in
touch with Asaf Bartov at the Wikimedia Foundation (abartov at
wikimedia.org,
you can keep me in cc) and you will be helped as soon as possible with
getting permission for your local organization/organizing team to get
trademark permissions for the duration and purpose of this contest. That
way you can mention Wikipedia and use the Wikipedia logo in your press
releases and on your websites/events (appropriately of course). This
shouldn't be a big deal, but it is unfortunately a bureaucratic loop we
have to jump through.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Best regards,
Lodewijk
