Anyway, HTTP doesn't support feedback during
upload (or any feedback,
really),
and HTML does not offer a way for multi-file uploads (which would also be
quite
handy). Any solutions I have so far seen for that are based either on a
Java
Applet or on Falsh.
RS.com's upload indicator apparently works via an iframe:
<form name="ul" method="post"
action="http://rs426l3.rapidshare.com/cgi-bin/upload.cgi?rsuploadid=14…
enctype="multipart/form-data" onsubmit="return zeigeProcess();">
<div id="progbar" style="display:none;">
<iframe
src="http://rs426l3.rapidshare.com/progress.html?uploadid=149063132559…
name="pframe" width="100%" height="120" frameborder=0
marginwidth="0"
marginheight="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>
</div>
<div id="dateiwahl">
<input type="file" size="65" id="dateiname"
name="filecontent"
onchange="zeigeUploadBtn();" />
<input type=image id="btnupload" name="u"
src="/img2/upload_file.jpg" style="visibility:hidden;" />
</div>
</form>
The usage of an unique upload ID ensures at their end that the progressbar
iframe always gets the right data. It refreshes using AJAX technology:

I'll take a look if this might be applicable to put into MW.
