OCR for Persian

Hello, I have access to huge resources of old books in Persian (some of them are even typed) and almost all of them can be imported to Wikisource but the problem is I don't have (or know) any OCR for Persian, Do you know which OCR software supports Persian (supporting Arabic is not enough; I checked several programs) texts? Quick question for all of you sorcerers: How do I link to a book in a non-English wikisource from an English Wikipedia article? I can't remember how to do this and don't know where else to look Thanks, Jane

Integrating academic works into Wikisource

Dear all, today, we posted a proposal to the English Wikisource about automated import of Open-Access articles: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource:Scriptorium#Automated_import_of_o… In parallel, I uploaded an important zoological work (the first monograph to use Linnean taxonomy for animals; written in Swedish and accompanied by a Latin translation) to Wikimedia Commons and posted about this at the Swedish and Latin Wikisources: https://sv.wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource:M%C3%B6tesplatsen#Svenska_spindlar https://la.wikisource.org/wiki/Vicifons:Scriptorium#Aranei_Svecici . In both cases, the aim is to bring more scholarly content onto Wikisource, and the idea is to scale things up if that works well. Feedback of any kind is most welcome. At Wikimania, having a WS chat about Cirrus Search might be useful

Not sure what others think, or how many will be at Wikimania. I know that I haven't done enough playing with Cirrus Search functionality, and I am not sure what those WSes (other than enWS) have done to have a more sophisticated offering to users. Might be useful if we could find half an hour during WM2014 to throw some ideas around, and maybe whiteboard what we would like CirrusSearch to do for us (if anything). After reading some of the wikitech-ambassador email today, I know that I stumbled over some documentation/thought boxes at http://git.wikimedia.org/tree/mediawiki%2Fextensions%2FCirrusSearch.git/mas… which while providing detail, doesn't gel for how we might implement things in a better way. What editors can do On Tool Labs [2], you can look up if the tools that you use and need have already moved there. Talk to the developers of your favourite tools: It is important to let them know how much you appreciate their tools and that you need them to do your work. Contact us if you don’t know who these developers are or if you have any questions or if you want us to forward wishes or requests to tool developers. Contact information is given at the end of this text. Information for tool developers If you are still facing the migration of your tools, please keep in mind that lots of people use your tools. They are a great support for their daily work and will be missed when they fail. Please take the time to migrate them or poke us: WMDE can still support you during migration - what we can’t do is maintain abandoned tools in the long run. >From July 1st on, the toolserver admins will still hand you over your backups upon request and create redirects to Tool Labs for you. Subpages on Wikidata

I don't recall what is the current stage of consensus regarding Wikisource subpages on Wikidata, but because while playing "The Game" [1] I keep getting this kind of item (mostly from es.wikisource), I've managed a way to at least track those stuff [2] I didn't did an exhaustive search for such items and I keep finding new, but at this momment it returns 2k of items.
