Wikipedia/WMF is constantly (in bad faith) denying that the version history is the section history of the GNU FDL.

Just because its not updated manually doesn't make it invalid. It happens when the author clicks "submit", thus the author causes it to happen, how is that significantly different to the author doing it? In your example of a dead tree software manual, is a new author not allowed to get their publisher or solicitor to handle the attribution side of things, they have to do it themselves?
