To be clear, you (and everyone else on scholarship) went last year on money that was donated specifically for Wikimania scholarships by outside organizations. This was administered and given out through the Foundation. :) We probably wouldn't have gotten those donations from those people for general-fund purposes.

This is a point that I've often wondered about. Considering that we are an internet-based organization and have internal access to so many electronic communications media (private wikis, private mailing lists, private IRC chatrooms), and could likely gain access to other more advanced types (video telephony, video conferencing, etc) is there truly a need for much travel?
