Brianmc: I am definately not old enough to take responsibility (being only 16) however, I believe the actual site is securely strong enough. I could never code anything like this site - it runs on limesurver (once phpsurveyor) which is one of the best known surveying programs.

Deni,
I don't believe you're old enough to take responsibility for this. I don't know how you've coded this up but a version that splits into translatable data files for the questions and core code would be ideal. In that way it can be passed on to the Foundation who I think should take responsibility for collecting and securing the data. Brion and others have serious experience in keeping machines secure and handling confidential data.
Aside: Deni isn't old enough to sign the privacy agreement for the Foundation. Admirably enthusiastic though.

The domain/hosting is all mine - if the census was given the green light I would either move it to the toolserv or, if that is not reliable enough, will buy a domain (ie. wikimaniacensus.org or something) and put it on my server (which only can be accessed by me). No matter where it is, we would definitely work out a policy regarding the management of data. It should be noted that, none of the data could actually identify anyone - it asks age ranges, not specific ages and, all the data which is collected is reasonably vague and would make it difficult to identify someone.
I believe we should work with in english only then, if that works well, we can try it in other languages.

Basically agree, but who is the site administrative http://loopaustralia.com? Can we be convinced that all their sysadmins accept this condition?
Also I need to say, you seem to assume English only survey is enough. But if you mean "Wikimedia survey", it wouldn't. It should be multilingual to be "Wikimedia" survey unless you are particularly interested in English speaking readership. It will be really a big deal. While UNU-Merit / WMF is survey is being prepared, I am not sure if it doesn't just duplicate works.

What about just putting up a sitenotice?
Currently I am less supportive. Until it is clear how and to which extent WMF manages this survey, it wouldn't be a good move. Specially in relation to privacy policy.
(Also, a global sitenotice... one hosted on meta, for instance...
would be nice for this sort of thing.)
