Dear Wikimedia Community,
Exciting news! Scholarship applications are now open for Wikimania 2025,
which will be held in Nairobi, East Africa, marking the first time this
global gathering is hosted in the region. This 20th-anniversary edition of
Wikimania is themed “Wikimania@20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability,”
bringing together Wikimedians worldwide to discuss strategies, celebrate
our milestones, and strengthen our collective commitment to free knowledge.
We encourage you to apply for a scholarship! Scholarships will cover
travel, accommodation, and registration, allowing recipients to engage
fully in the event. Whether you contribute online or offline, this is a
fantastic opportunity to connect, share, and learn with fellow Wikimedians.

Scholarships now open: 7th November-8th December 2024

Conference Dates: 6th-9th August 2025 (with pre-conference activities
also being planned on 5 August.)

Scholarship Coverage: Travel, accommodation, registration, and travel
insurance

Application Focus: Contributions to Wikimedia’s sustainability and
inclusivity. Be sure to highlight your contribution to the movement and
provide relevant links for reference.
As in previous years, scholarship recipients are encouraged to volunteer
4-6 hours during the event to help make it memorable for everyone.
Applications are being accepted now, and the organizing team is eager to
assist accepted scholars with travel arrangements. Don’t miss out on this
opportunity to be part of a landmark event!
