Dear all,
I’m writing to let you know that the Wikimedia Foundation’s audit report
<https://wikimediafoundation.org/about/financial-reports/> (audited
financial statements) are now available for the fiscal year ending 30 June
2024. The audit report for the Wikimedia Endowment
<https://wikimediaendowment.org/#reports>’s inaugural audit is also
available for the same timeframe–as the Wikimedia Endowment became a
standalone 501(c)(3) in fiscal year 2023-2024, it will now have its own
audit report going forward. The Wikimedia Enterprise financial report
<https://diff.wikimedia.org/2024/11/07/wikimedia-enterprise-financial-report…>
for the same period is also available today.
The audit report is one of many financial reports we release every year. It
contains statements about an organization’s financial position and
activities; those statements are audited by a third party (in our case,
KPMG) for accuracy.
KPMG issued their opinions that both the Wikimedia Foundation’s and the
Wikimedia Endowment’s financial statements for FY 2023-2024 are presented
accurately. This marks the 19th consecutive year of clean audits for the
Wikimedia Foundation since the Foundation’s first audit in 2006 and the
first year of clean audits for the new Wikimedia Endowment entity.
We have also shared key highlights from the reports on Diff
<https://diff.wikimedia.org/2024/11/07/highlights-from-the-fiscal-year-2023-…>
along with frequently asked questions (FAQs) on Meta-Wiki for the Foundation
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_reports/Financial/Audi…>
and for the Endowment
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Endowment_reports/Financial/Audit…>
to help give a sense of what the numbers mean.
For those who are interested in diving deeper into the financials for
Wikimedia Enterprise, we have also published the third annual financial
report for Enterprise on Diff
<https://diff.wikimedia.org/2024/11/07/wikimedia-enterprise-financial-report…>.
The principal information is already included in the Foundation’s audit
report, but this extra documentation is consistent with our commitment to
ensure that this commercial revenue is also detailed separately – for
maximum transparency.
If you have any questions, please contact me via email, or ask a question
directly on the talk pages for the Foundation

and the Endowment
