Hey there everyone!
We're thrilled to share that as part of IYD23
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Event:International_Youth_Day_2023>we are
awarding the youth barstars
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WikiVibrance_Barnstar.svg> to the
youth champs in our movement. This year, we're shining the spotlight on
those who are consistently supporting and guiding the youth in our journey,
as well as those amazing young individuals who are setting the inspiration
bar sky-high with their outstanding contributions.
Ever had that one person who's been your rock, guiding you whenever you
needed a helping hand? Now's your chance to show them some love with a
well-deserved Barnster nomination! Also, if there's a youth out there who's
been rocking it with their inspiring work, nominate them too!!
To nominate for the youth Barnstar, go to the link and add the name:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/International_Youth_Day_2023/Nomination
We get it, these barstars might not change the world, but we're pretty darn
sure they'll give a fantastic boost to the incredible work these folks are
doing. Let's spread the good vibes and honour the people making a
difference!
Kind regards,
Wasi

Hi everyone,
I am one of the Central Notice banner admins that create our banners on the
Wikimedia projects that inform you about for instance the Wikimedia Sound
logo contest, Wikimania or at the moment the consultation round for the
Movement Charter drafts.
As you may not be aware, for these kinds of global banners where we ask for
community members to help with the availability of languages (the "[Help
with translations!]" text at the bottom), all incoming translated messages
need to be manually set to live by a Steward, CN admin, or Meta translation
admin - and we don't have too many of these.
From my own experience, this can be a long and intensive process because I
don't speak all of our languages and Google and Yandex don't know several
of them either.
With 60-80 translations per global banner, it is a lot of work to check
sentence by sentence if the proposed text (and also the corrections that
may come in at a later moment) makes sense. To make this process easier and
more equitable for both sides (CN admins/stewards and community members) I
created this feature request on Phabricator
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T341414>, to hopefully put more power to
the community in this process.
If you have additional thoughts on this, please add them to the request on
Phabricator.
Best,
Ciell
