Dear Wikimedians,
The AfroCine Project team will once again like to thank everyone who has contributed towards ensuring the success of this initiative over the past few years. Due to your valued efforts, we have been able to add over 10,000 quality articles to Wikipedia in over 20 different languages. Over 15 countries have also been directly impacted through this project.
The team will also like to inform you of the leadership changes that the Afrocine project has gone through over the past couple of months. After more than 4 years of leading this project since its inception, I will be stepping down as the Project lead. I want to use this opportunity to thank the project team and the wider community for the trust bestowed on me to steer the project over the years and the support I have received all the way.
I am handing over the baton to Ayo Odedere and Eben Calist Mlay, as the Project Co-leads. These two long standing members of the Wikimedia community have been very crucial in steering the direction of this project over the past years and I trust that they are able to move the project forward with new perspectives and innovation, while I continue to support the project in other ways. I also implore the community to support them in the same way I have been supported.
While there won’t be a major contest this year, the new team is organising a brief stint in this month of November, which would be shared accordingly soon and we look forward to your participation! If you need any information or have any query regarding this contest or the project, feel free to contact the team on: info(a)afrocineproject.org.
Thank you very much for your constant support in running this project with success.
With regards,
Sam Oyeyele
On behalf of the AfroCine Project team.
