Dear All, It is my pleasure to convey you a wonderful news from Republic of Srpska! Our photo contest Trace of Soul 2019 <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Trace_of_Soul_2019> (wle+wlm) is finished. You can see the winning photos in two categories - natural and cultural-historical heritage here <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Trace_of_Soul_2019/Winners>. The photographs were presented at a special ceremony in the gallery of one of the most important cultural institutions in Republic of Srpska - Banski Dvor <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banski_Dvor>. This institution is for us like Louvre to France (almost), and we are excited that we made a contact with them and even talk about future cooperation in the field of GLAM projects. This is a confirmation that our work in our country has been recognized as significant and that since its founding we have succeeded in building the reputation of a serious and professional organization that is a desirable partner to other institutions and organizations. I think that these emails encourage a collegial environment in Wikimedia-l, and I hope that they are good for morale. However, they are time consuming to write. I have a backlog of Wikimedia emails that I have not read, I want to complete a few of my long delayed Wikimedia video tutorials, and I have many off wiki demands on my time. As I wrote in September, I need to reduce the amount of time that I spend writing these pieces. Perhaps shorter contributions from me to WMYHTW will lead to other people feeling that there is more space for them to make their own WMYHTW contributions. WMYHTW should not be about me, but I will say that of the projects that I could do for the community, this has become one of my favorites. Before I started writing WMHYTW emails, I spent a lot of my time being vigilant for problems and wondering what would go wrong next. The habit of writing these pieces has slowly changed how I think. I am thankful for the community members who accept and encourage the WMYHTW initiative, and the Wikimedians on Facebook who gave me the idea for this practice. Wikiwisdom Update and Question

Wikimedia-l, Wikitech-l, It appears that there is a growing consensus in the discussion area for the Wikiwisdom sister project proposal [1] that some of the ideas which comprise the proposal are also feature requests for the Wikiquote project. These ideas include: those of a structured Wikiquote (e.g. Wikidata integration, individual quotes as structured data items, auto-generated pages from Wikidata queries (e.g. pages listing quotes by author)) as well as social media integration so that users could readily share individual quotes with one another on social media. I would like to ask how best to get the project proposal information [1] to the Wikiquote project team as well as how best to propose the feature requests to the Wikiquote project. Hello colleagues, The tentative plan for month's Wikimedia Café online video meeting is to discuss Wikimedia activities and organizations in India, and to start the meeting one hour earlier in the day than the previous Café meeting started. Signing up for the meeting is optional, but is helpful to the organizers so that we can estimate how many people will attend. The meeting style will emphasize discussion rather than presentation. People are welcome to participate as listeners only if they prefer. The five available videos have been re-encoded to webm (mp4 is a non-free format) and released on Wikimedia Commons.[1] Some are already in use on the German Wikipedia.[2] If ZDF copied their CC-BY videos to YouTube, there are several tools available that can assist mass uploading and encoding from YouTube. Good day all, Wikimedia Canada held its Annual General Meeting 2019 [1] on 19 October in Montreal, Quebec with online participation as well. We would like to introduce you 4 newly elected Board members and one re-elected Board member: - Amber Berson - Jean-Michel Lapointe - Lëa-Kim Chateauneuf - Sarah Severson - Stacy Allison-Cassin The following 3 Board members are continuing their 2-years terms until next year: - Benoit Rochon - Ha-Loan Phan - Michael David Miller Wikimedia Canada is proud to have a majority of women on its Board. We believe that we are the only Wikimedia chapter in this situation, please correct me if I'm wrong. We are also happy to welcome a member of the Board from Western Canada. We are convinced that this will help us to increase the diversity of contributors on Wikimedia projects from Canada, especially in regards to the gender gap, and to expand Wikimedia Canada's activities and reach across all of Canada.
