Hi, if my proposal of presentation [*] is still in "open" status and it isn't in the program, I have to consider that it has been discarded?
Just to confirm it. Thanks.

Hi David,
Afraid so. Everything that's not been accepted into the programme or notified as a backup talk (in case of cancellation) should be considered rejected. I thought all of them had been marked as such, but apparently we missed some, sorry about that.

Ok, Edward; Otherwise, thanks for the confirmation. The program feels interesting and sure we'll have informal chances to share this experience.
All the best.

Edward, I had the same question, because I assumed I would be informed one way or another. I only found out by coincidence that the programme was published and that my submissions were not in the programme. Considering David and my cases, you should probably send out a quick rejection notice just to confirm this to people. I can't believe David and I were the only ones. Jane Sent from my iPad

Sorry all, the programming process dragged on as people variously pulled out or were slow to confirm, and then other concerns became more pressing. TheHelpfulOne has just volunteered to make sure all the submissions are marked with the correct status, so should be done soon.

And done. Thanks for bringing this up David, if anything else is incorrect please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Unfortunately, due to a RL work conflict that I was unfortunately unable to reschedule despite significant efforts, I am not able to attend the conference this year.
I e-mailed a couple of the organizers to this effect a couple of weeks ago, and have just discovered bounce autoreplies that seem to have landed in my spam box. I don't know why my messages didn't go through when sent, but meh. :(
I am sorry that I won't be able to give my talk on BLP as planned and especially sorry if due to the aforementioned bounces this is the first the organizers are hearing of it. If someone else would like to give a talk on that subject in the timeslot and is chosen by the organizers to do so, he or she should feel free to contact me and I will provide some suggestions.
Have a great conference, everyone. I enjoy Wikimania and I like London very much and I am very sorry that I will not be able to be with all of you enjoying both.

Thanks for doing this.
For the record this also happened in 2012. In fact in that case, some people werent notified that there submission had been unsuccessful until the conference was over! Perhaps the lesson for future Wikimanias is that the programme should be settled earlier on.
Kind regards,
Christopher

This kind of thing is easier said than done I'm afraid! Turning 500+ submissions into a programme is an enormous task, and it's tough keeping volunteers to deadlines.

Ed, "some” is an understatement, or heck, worse. A substantial number of talks are still marked as open, including mine. It appears to me that none of those articles you said were marked for rejection were even marked to begin with, as I’m glancing at all these submissions right now and if I don’t see an accepted template on the top of the page, they’re still marked as open.
Regards from Toronto,
Josh
