Good evening Wikimaniacs!
We now have a distributed effort by multiple volunteers in Hong Kong to
upload all the video footage from Wikimania 2013 onto YouTube. If you gave
a presentation or workshop at Wikimania (and haven't requested that we
don't video you), keep an eye on WMHK's YouTube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/user/WikimediaHK
The plan is that all videos will be available by the end of February.
We'd be grateful if you can watch your video and see if there are any
defects, because we can't watch every second of the uploaded videos to
check them!

Hi,
I know it may be too early to ask that, but I promise to send another
notification related this issue in the coming months :)
We started last year to make the Wikimania costs more transparent.
Wikimania is our biggest and the most expensive project. To ask our self
"how much Wikimania costs" we can't only look on the project budget, as the
total cost involve also scholarships (from WMF and chapters)
and delegations of the chapters and the WMF.
We have tracking pages on Meta about Wikimania
2011<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2011/Budget>and
Wikimania
2012 <http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2012/Budget> (sadly the
organizer team of 2012 didn't updated their costs till now...), and I
opened a new page for Wikimania
2013<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2013/Budget>
.
So again, I know to some of you this is too early to put the costs
(although the size of the chapters and WMF delegation is known and could be
update also now) - but if you can, do it now. If now, remember to do it
what you have the numbers.
The data requested is your chapter\wmf
delegation<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2013/Budget#Delegations>
and
the number of scholarships<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania/Scholarships/2013>your
chapters gave.
Thanks,
Itzik
On behalf of the Wikimania Steering Committee, I would like to encourage anyone in our community
who is interested in hosting Wikimania 2015 to consult the revised Timeline and Criteria that
are now posted at:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2015_bids
We have extended the deadline for submitting proposals to March 14, 2014.
Please get in touch with me directly if you have any questions or need help in preparing your bid.
Thanks,

Dear friends,
I've contacted the scholarship comitee a couple of days ago but nobody
have sent an answer.
After Wikimania in Hongkong I've booked and payed my flight to London.
So I need only a place to sleep (dorm), because the hotels and B&B's are
to expensive for me as a 100% volunteer.
On the application form (scholarship request of the german language
chapters) there was no space for comments. Last year you could choose
between partial- and full scholarship...
Best regards,
Carl

Hi, on wikimedia-gh there was a discussion about money needs in the bank
account of people for getting a visa to attend wikimania. As the interested
persons usually are students this might pose a problem. Do you have any
plans how to deal with it?
Rupert
Hi all,
Scholarship applications for Wikimania 2014 in London are now being
accepted. Applications are open until the end of the day UTC on 17 February.
Wikimania 2014 scholarships is an award given to an individual to enable
them to attend Wikimania in London from 6-10 August, 2014.
Only a single type of scholarship will be available from the Wikimedia
Foundation for Wikimania 2014. A Wikimedia Foundation scholarship will
cover the cost of an individual's round-trip travel costs as arranged by
the Wikimedia Foundation travel agency, shared accommodation as arranged
by the Wikimedia Foundation, and registration for Wikimania.
Applicants will be rated using a pre-determined selection process and
selection criteria by the Scholarship Committee, who will determine
which are successful. To learn more about Wikimania 2014 scholarships,
please visit <https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Scholarships>.
To apply for a scholarship, fill out the application form on
<http://scholarships.wikimedia.org/apply>. It is highly recommended that
applicants review all of the material on the Scholarships page and the
associated FAQ before submitting an application.
If you have any question, please contact
<wikimania-scholarships(a)wikimedia.org> or leave a message on
<https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Scholarships>.

Correct, it's an announcement list. I want to avoid people missing
important announcements due to discussion.
