This is a typical requirement, the applicant should prove she/he is able to pay for any incidents while in the country. Schengen countries typically want to see the person has 10.000 EUR in available.
That's why WMCH issued a guarantee of 10.000 CHF and put that into the invitation letter.
I would recommend to print the statements, blacken any individual namea and fax it to the consulate.

I have never heard that any other country require such things. Does WMF scholars have similar problems?

We have a problem with one of our scholar, who needs a Mexican visa. We
have sent him a letter of support, but Mexican Consulate in Rome requries
from him to provide full 12 month statesments from our accounts (Wikimedia
Polska). We can't do this as these statements contain a lot of fragile
personal data (names, home addresses and personal accounts numbers of our
scholars, members and donors). I have never heard that any other country
require such things. Does WMF scholars have similar problems?

I think according Sunnis Muslims can eat kosher food
all foods are halal except meats if they are prepared according to Muslim
mexico has only 0.02% of Muslims ;I doubt that halal food is on sale in
if the organizers may specify the Ingrediens of food that would be ideal
and best wish for all
in london replaced meat with fish to compensate for the protein deficiency
in addition 7 days without meat is not so severe

I have just registered (yay for registration opening!) but I note on the
"Dietary preference. Please note, we cannot accommodate Halal or Kosher."
Does this really mean what it says? Presumably people who want halal or
kosher food can safely select the vegetarian option?

* WMF and WM-MX are grateful to Conaculta and the Biblioteca Vasconcelos for their kind offer to host the conference at the magnificent Biblioteca. However, due to logistical issues, we had to change the venue to the Hilton Hotel La Reforma. We will continue to work with both Conaculta and the Biblioteca Vasconcelos to leverage the experience and capacity of all institutions to generate and disseminate content that guarantees free and open knowledge to the whole of society.
