Hi, folks.
I just landed in London, and I plan to visit the Charles Dickens Museum at
48 Doughty Street, a 22 minute walk from the Barbican Thistle City hotel,
where many of us are.
I intend to leave the hotel lobby around 12pm (noon), with whoever would
like to join, or just by myself if no one else is interested.
Information: http://www.dickensmuseum.com/your-visit/
Admission price is 8 pounds. No large bags/suitcases allowed.
If you're interested, let me know, and be at the lobby before 12pm. In
case you don't know me yet, you may recognize me by my striking resemblance
to this guy:

For those of you who still need to book a room or know of someone looking to book, even last minute,
there are some available (standard and premium), and
you can book by contacting the following person at the Thistle City Barbican Hotel.

I wonder if anyone would like to join a meetup at London's The Globe, an
exact replica of the historical theatre, and get some tickets in "The Yard"
are only £5 - ie standing-room like the Groundlings from Shakespeare's day.
Some times that are available:
Tues - Anthony and Cleopatra 2pm (though this may not be ideal for the
jetlaggers!)
Wed - Anthony and Cleopatra 7:30pm
Thurs - King Lear 7:30pm
Sun - Holy Warriors 6:30pm (not Shakespeare, but apparently
Shakespeare-esque!)
This experiences involves a lot of standing among the proletariat, but gets
you a lot of cultural and historical bang for your money.
What would people be most interested in?
Maybe Anthony and Cleopatra Wednesday evening, as there doesn't seem to be
much official Wikimania programming for then?
Thanks,
Richard

Hi,
We have created a schedule for various meetups requested in the
evenings, and tried to find an hour for most of the meetings requested.
We do not have formal spaces we can allocate during the day, though
there are plenty of informal spaces in and around the venue that might
serve the same purpose. These rooms will be classroom style.
Please let me know if any of these are impractical and/or are not needed
and we will find another use for the space, or if the idea of an evening
meetup was not planned, there are plenty of pubs in the local area that
might be useful for small groups.
Also, please let me know if we've missed any events and we will try to
accomodate.

Hi all,
I will be attending Wikimania from Friday to Sunday, and I want to have
a key signing party. I pretend it to be informal, and we can meet at
the Community Village.[1]
If you want to have your PGP key signed, bring your public PGP key
block to the conference, and your ID (passport will be enough). I will
gadly sign your key if you sign mine :-)
Please, contact me in private if you are interested. My PGP key ID is
F7C0E1A3, and my fingerprint is B387 F3B1 0F2C F46B 36AD FAFF 7BC3 594D
F7C0 E1A3. You can find it on key servers.[2]
See you in London!

Hello,
I'm staying in London for meetings and then Worldcon the weekend after
Wikimania.
I'm staying with a friend of a friend during the week after wikimania but
would love to share a hotel room closer to the WorldCon venue for that
weekend. If anyone knows of someone going to worldcon and wants to share a
room write to me off list.
I'm also interested in meeting up at Worldcon with any Wikimedians who are
going. Also write off list.

Just by way of an update:
We'll be doing tours at 11, 2, and 5 on Wednesday (with me) and Thursday (with Chris McKenna). We might be able to arrange tours at other times if there's demand.
Please sign up on the wiki or ping me offlist if you'd like to come, just so we have an idea of demand.
This is a good opportunity to familiarise yourself with the conference venue (which is a bit of a rabbit warren!) while it's still relatively quiet.
Best,

Hi all,
my name is Tjane and I'm part of the Communications team at Wikimedia
Deutschland.
At Wikimania, me and my tiny camera crew (Anne Braun and Cornelius Kibelka)
will conduct short interviews in order to collect international
perspectives on current Wikimedia topics.
You can find the topics (free knowledge/open source
development/education/volunteers) and a list of sample questions on my
Wikimania
page
<https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Tjane_Hartenstein_(WMDE)>.
If you want to contribute with one or more statements to this "testimonial
video project", or else know someone who will be at Wikimania and who's
insight on one or more of the topics absolutely needs to be captured on
film, please feel free to contact me <tjane.hartenstein(a)wikimedia.de>!
Or just find us at Wikimania: we will be either near the press corner or
close to WMDE's data pump
<https://wikimania2014.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Tjane_Hartenstein_(WMDE)#medi…>
in the community village...or somewhere close by!
Looking forward to meet everyone,
best,
Tjane
