Hi Jørund,
Any update? I wonder what you decided about what to include in the contest. I included the European mailinglist. Maybe someone can assist you with converting your lists.

Some good news - we have gotten the db-dumps from the directorate. We have converted them to lists: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/no/wiki/Wikipedia:Wiki_Loves_Monument...
Unfortunately this format is not compatible with the system we're using in most countries. We're using a template based structured list system to maintain the lists in most wikiedia's. The system is explained at https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monum... and I already added a lot of countries at https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monum...
Thanks a lot for looking into it. We should manage to make structured lists.
These lists now contain 10 000 monuments in Norway. We have excluded archaeological sites (which are included in the Norwegian term kulturminne), so the lists more or less corresponds to what one would consider monuments in other european countries.
You can include the archaeological sites too if you like. In the Netherlands some "Rijksmonumenten" are actually just sites. You started with 115000 monuments. What's the difference?
Here is a list containing different categories and corresponding number of objects: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/no/wiki/Bruker:H@r@ld/WLM
Here are some major categories: site of inhabitance / site of activity: 23971 tomb: 20295 site of coal production: 15171
Almost any trace of human activity before 1537 is automatically protected as cultural heritage in Norway. Some of these might appear just as a hole in the ground made for hunting on a photograph. :)
But the decision is not final, we are able to include more categories.
You got the lists. You got a prize. That's already a lot. Do you have some sort of website? I would recommend you browse through https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monum... , it contains a lot of information.
The website is in the making. Please tell me if there is any urgent info you need about the Norwegian WLM.
Please take a look at the lists and tell me if there is anything that we should do with them.
Convert them to structured lists. Drop by in #wikilovesmonuments on Freenode if you need some assistance with this.
I'll have the one responsible for conversion from db-dump to list look into it.
Regards, Jørund
