Hi Lodewijk, Thank you for your concern and efforts. Actually, the answer is no, I didn't encounter that website. However, according to the definition of a monument given by Wikipedia, it shouldn't include only archaeological sites, but also another variety of buildings and and structures with a particular historical or national importance. For publishing the list, I think they would be extremely collaborative just if we talk them about the contest, and how important it is to have Jordan represented in it :) The editors who have confirmed participation so far are five (including me), and the number could possibly rise up to eight. It may worth noting that half of those have been editing Wikipedia for over three years, and are current/previous admins with a very good wiki experience. The language used will be definitely Arabic, which is the sole official language of Jordan. Thank you,Abbad. Hi Abbad, did you already encounter this page on the website of the Department of Antiquities? http://itp-jo.com/daj/En/inside.php?src=sublinks&SlID=5049&MlID=8
Every governorate seems to contain a small list of archaeological sites in that region. Also, some data might be collected via http://www.getty.edu/conservation/our_projects/field_projects/jordan/jordan_... .
The Law of Antiquities ( http://itp-jo.com/daj/En/inside.php?src=sublinks&SlID=5017&MlID=5 ) suggests that the term "Antique Sites" is what you are looking for. All these should have been announced in the Official Gazette, and therefore matter of public record. The General Department of Antiquities should have a register, as per art.3.3 , so I would naively suggest to call them and ask if they published it already somewhere, and if they can email it to you. As they are together with the Tourism department nowadays, they might be motivated by the argument that it is good for Tourism to have more information on Wikipedia :)
Out of curiosity, how many volunteers are involved at this point? What would be the language project that you would be using as your basis? (i.e. arwiki, enwiki?)
Please let us know if there is any way we can practically help. Best regards,Lodewijk

Hi all. We will be joining Wiki loves monuments in Jordan this year for the first time. We have made a small team of local Wikipedians who are interested in organization, and we plan to collaborate with a number of local photography groups and societies. There is no monuments list yet, as there is no governmental interest/concern in releasing such things to public, but I hope we will be able to get one from the ministry of culture. The website is yet to be created :)
Hope everybody a good luck, of course, including us! Thank you,Abbad.
