The API should stick to as simple as possible, with raw data.
Therefore, I've conceived this "bridge" which just reads (and caches) from the API and puts the links where they're due.
In the end, the result is pretty much the same as rankings.php, have a look:

You can use that one directly. Delay may reach up to 15 minutes, I believe (Commons->API->website), rough estimate.
