Right now, absolutely nothing hand-made beyond having the right
properties/categories/templates/forms in SMW. We're actively trying to avoid deep
changes. Part of the reason is to improve system sustainability. Another part is,
we're not php programmers. :)
The enterprise architecture we're reflecting in our SMW is composed of predominantly
open source systems, so it comes naturally that we'd release anything we end up
writing ourselves. We're very loath to do that, however. We prefer a) using
established extensions, b) bug reports and/or enhancement requests (i.e. working through
the community)=, c) documenting our work so it is replicable by other actors, and d)
scoping the EAR to the extent SMW serves without deep customization (i.e. sacrificing a
feature we might need if it requires too much coding).
It's still a very young system we're working with, so I can't tell you much
more right now than, that it gives us a really good level of flexibility in defining our
EA model and populating it with the appropriate metadata and structure. And eventually
running governance queries like "if I change this integration protocol, which systems
and which users are affected" or "give me a list of the system components which
are not under OSI approved licenses".

That's even more awesome! Have you modified\extended SMW or other
Semantic extensions during your system building? Is there any new code
to share?

As the linked blog post suggests, we're happy being as open as possible concerning
how we're EAR-ifying SMW. So having a public instance illustrating the SMW structuring
and use patterns should help other organisations - commercial or otherwise - achieve
something similar.

Nice to see you here, Josef!
Do you have any plans to provide your EAR to the companies as business
solution or part of the consulting service? If so, there is now a list
of companies that create their software packages based on MW here,
don't hesitate to add yourself here:

Danes Digital Libraries (Danskernes Digitale Bibliotek) in fact, not the
National Library. :)
The author is currently on #mediawiki (as
Josef-ddb). He seems to think
that EAR is a niche currently populated by overpriced and underpowered
commercial behemoths, and that SMW could be competitive in this domain, but
that people might need a bit of help to make the connection between EAR
requirements and SMW capabilities.
We intend for our SMW based EAR to be public in fairly short order. I'll
ping this list when that happens if there's interest.
