Despite of my attempt to install a software to access IRC, I fail. This is not simple for a non developper. It would be much better and transparent if discussions could occur on wikipedia itself or the mailing list.
I can not follow discussions then, and in fact I do not even know how that works, and if archives of the discussions are left somewhere, if they can be consulted somehow; Is it possible or not ? Or is it possible that someone save all the discussions so those who do not have IRC know what is going on ?
I must sound very innocent I suppose, but I really do not know how that works :-)
It is my understanding discussions are occuring over there (or would occur) about setting a french association and hosting of a server in France, or so is what I understand from what is written on wikipedia; In an association, there must be an annual gathering to decide of err...rules, amount of money members must pay, and such. Physical gathering to do so would be difficult, so someone is suggesting that this is done by IRC.
Does anyone knows if this is legal on IRC ?
If it is so, could there be a technical way for wikipedia to help setting a sort of interface between IRC and Wikipedia, so that this is publicly visible and available to anyone at anytime ?
