One: wiki-research-l, "A low volume list for
people who are actively
engaged in research on the Wikipedia project"
I suggest changing this to "who are actively engaged in research on the
Wikimedia project communities and content." The first change should be
obvious -- there's no reason to limit a new mailing list like this just to
Wikipedia and to not include Wikinews, Wikibooks, etc. The second change --
from the general "research" to the specific "communities and content"
--
should help to ensure that technical discussions remain on wikitech-l. I
don't want to see an artificial split between research on MediaWiki and
MediaWiki development. Stuff like HistoryFlow also should be discussed on
wikitech-l, in my opinion.
-- this list should be
moderated with me as the moderator for now. It should be open for
anyone to subscribe to. I will find a proper moderator soon.
What kind of moderation do you have in mind? I heard the Wikimedia
Foundation has appointed a Research Officer recently, maybe he's interested.
;-)
Best,
Erik
