Siebrand was working on fixing up this extension, mostly because it just didn't work, and to make it easier to install...
There were errors with mysql tables not using prefixes when set up, and then being *sometimes* called with $wgDbPrefix, and sometimes not.. other errors like extending SpecialPage class without including it..
Also, http://en.wiredtape.com/wiki/User:Bfhappy/SocialProfile has a few fixes waiting for update to trunk..

After discussion on IRC I now understand why this had to be changed, it's Wikia's responsibility to upgrade regardless of whether they made the extension or not and trunk code should be aimed at trunk.
Sorry for this interruption.

Well, some extension authors like to keep their trunk extensions backward-compatible. Now that we branch extensions, though, it seems like a good idea to assume in the general case that trunk extensions work on trunk and branch extensions work on their branch, in the absence of an active maintainer who feels otherwise. The checked-in version could be re-checked-in to the 1.10 branch if desired to provide a backward-compatible version.
