I don't even know the reason. Maybe it's time to restore [[Special:PrefixIndex/Wikipedia:Deletion log archive]], which in 2006 Ral315 "temporarily deleted temporarily" and would restore "soon".

Now that we have the __NOINDEX__ tag and admin control of the robots.txt file, it's probably safer to restore the deletion log archives. But we can't control what other sites who reuse our content do with Robots.txt. The ultimate solution would be to import the old logs into the logs table.
