inside the ref tag rapidly runs into "what if he published two
papers in 2007 with the same title in different journals?" etc.
Pretty soon you're back to the whole thing inside the ref tag.
On the other hand, being able to type {{refs:The Origin of
Species|page=246}} has a certain appeal to it. Although you'd have to
specify the edition . . . still, that kind of relatively verbose
format seems like a better idea to me, overall.
