For getting familiar with our GSoC programme, read the GSoC guide[0].
For a step by step guide for newcomers looking to hack MediaWiki, go
through our beginner's guide[1].
We have a number of projects on the GSoC board[2] board. Go through the
projects in the Featured column, and find the one's which interest you. Try
to understand the projects and ask questions whenever stuck as comments in
Phabricator on the particular project tasks or over irc on #wikimedia-dev
on freenode.
