Each wiki page in the namespace would be like an entry in your
EndNote database.
Each of those pages would be a cite template filled in with
appropriate values.
So you might write <ref>{{refs:Markowitz_2007|pages=1-10}}</ref>
Which is a lot more readable and compact than
<ref>{{Citation
| last=Markowitz
| first=Maury
| author-link=
| publication-date=20070918
| date=
| year=2007
| title=A workable ref/note/cite system for wikipedia
| periodical=J. wikipedia sci.
| series=
| publication-place=Cyberspace
| place=
| publisher=Foobar press
| volume=1
| issue=1
| pages=1-1-
| url=
| issn=
| doi=
| oclc=
| accessdate=
}}.
The "template" on the refs page would have all that.

A references namespace has been suggested before.
It's worth
considering.
I think I may be missing the point here... what would this do?
