Probably nothing new, but I'd like to propose turn talk pages into NNTP
groups resp. articles and at expiring time (or earlier) archive them as
HTML pages.
Talk pages are often to bewildered and it take much to much time
maintaining those pages - just shorten one of the pages and the other
day it is crowded with similar statements again.
