The 'stable branch' idea sounds workable - no changes beyond typos or
seriously problematic content (e.g. libel, copyvio). Particularly if
combined with Magnus' idea of a Mediawiki installation that only
receives the "good" articles/versions from a read-write Wikipedia.
Jimbo's original request for a ten-minute delay for anon readers would
be a better idea for presenting a less unpolished face to the world,
IMO, but I understand that's presently considered a technical nightmare
and is unlikely in the short term.
