Oh yes, this is true currently, but if you scroll back a few messages,
Simetrical has noted that a fix for this is already in the works.
Personally, I prefer different tags, since they are
doing different
jobs (and it's shorter that way).
I generally prefer separate tags for this sort of thing too. I think
that a separate <note> tag vs. <ref group=notes> is an example,
because I think it adds semantic content for other editors. That said,
I'm pretty happy to see these changes going in as-is, and I fully
understand the need for backwards compatibility at this point.
Now if only I could up with a better name than "backlink=", but so far
I've failed.
