Having both public and private watchlists would be
an ugly corruption of the
basic WikiNature of Wikipedia.
Well -- what people are wanting (increasingly) is
automated interaction pages. - like replacing VFD page
with a chekbox -[Send to VFD] option on an article -
or replacing the Village pump wiki - with a threaded
chat. Wiki is fine for static articles, but for pages
that change a lot, they dont make people happy.
So "customize our watchlists please" if translated
reads: "we want more non-wiki interactive
capabilities." This is the direction the watchlist
topic really wants to go in --and its a very general
and grandiose one. In my mind there is nothing
anti-wiki about adding extra-wiki functional pages for
special, high traffic, high user-demand applications.
