I never use Wikipedia without logging in first.
Even if I want just to read something, I log in.
One of the reasons is aesthetical: The default
skin doesn't seem beautiful to me (sorry), so I
log in in order to see Wikipedia with my
favourite skin.
I have even placed a "login" link on my userpage.

Another approach would be to ask one if they
wished to log in at the time
of submitting work...
