I've found infos on differnt web pages (wiki pages
too). With Belgian I've meant Flemish, that was not
clear, my fault.
Czech has 4 genders: masculine animate, masculine
inanimate, feminine, and neuter. Yiddish seem to have
3 genders (masc, fem, neutral). Hebrew just two (masc,
fem).
Other languages has genders for some words and not for
every one (Dutch, for ex).
What really matters in wiki writing terms is that
every language has synonyms and that handling
all-the-single-words-meaning-the-same of the main one
as redirect looks to be a pointless hassle.
You will have: synonyms declined in different genders
AND numbers (singular and plural). They will be more
in some languages than in others, this will be more
important for some terms than for others, but you'll
find them anyway in every language.
Redirect has sense when different expression has to
point to a (let me use this term) technical word.
Everyday language point to proper terms: Soia cheese
(day-by-day) point to Tofu (proper name of the
object).
I guess that this point can be less important or
evident in english and for english speaking people.
For most european people is more important, because
their languages has more complex grammars.
Splitting redirect, synonyms and common errors
handling would be of help for writers and searchers. I
guess it would be easier for wiki admin to handle less
records on the server too, but since I'm not an expert
in servers matters I'm not sure.
I'm not even sure that wiki system can split red. and
syn.: what I'm sure is that it would be great. At the
end of an article you can now specify the article
category. Do you think it would be possible for the
system to specify the same way synonyms? And have them
to work as redirect?
Maybe that just seems simple, but it's not.
