Hi all!
Here are the minutes from the last ArchCom meeting. You can also find the
minutes at <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Architecture_committee/2017-07-05>.
See also the ArchCom status page at
<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Architecture_committee/Status> and the RFC board
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/mediawiki-rfcs/>.
Here are the minutes, for your convenience:
* New Last Call: Deprecate use of PHP serialization
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T161647>. The RFC has been updated since the
IRC discussion
* Ongoing Last Call: Bump required MySQL version to 5.5
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T161232>
* Ongoing Last Call: Change wikipage redirects to be proper HTTP redirects
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T53736>
* Ongoing discussion regarding using FauxRequest for internal calls to the API
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T169266>. There was rough consensus at the
hackathon in Leon that application logic using FauxRequest leads to bad code.
Some more discussion of the pros and cons and possible use cases seems useful.
* Sections are getting human readable IDs, see
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T152540>. See also the thread on
“Human-readable section IDs” on wikitech-l (Max Semenik, July 8th).
* Approved after Last Call: Reading List Service
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T164990>. The DB schema may need some
polishing. ArchCom discussed using page IDs instead of namespace+title, but
decided that this is really a product decision, depending on the desired behavior.
* There is no IRC meeting scheduled for next week, as the Architecture Committee
will focus on finalizing the Charter. Last minute comments are welcome on the
talk page. <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Architecture_committee/Charter>
