edit you could derive the state of wikipedia at any point in time.
Due to deletions, moves, partial undeletions (I.e. delete some revs,
move the page, undelete everything) and various glitchups this is not
strictly true.
It's not at all true for the really early days - large amounts of the
page histories from the first few months are gone for good.
