We have used a script to automatically move old
binlogs in the past, but
we haven't been using it recently. It takes some amount of effort to set
up and maintain.
I am testing out Nagios and Zabbix to monitor our servers here at my
work. It always a good idea monitoring, especially if you can
configure alerts when you get to 80% of disk space (or whatever) so
you have time to plan for and schedule the necessary upgrades.
Zabbix in particular allows you to get a good historical view with web
accessible charts, and all of that, of what resources are being used
on each of your servers. Nagios is more popular, but harder to set
up, doesn't do historical trending in it's default configuration.
If it would be of use, I would be willing to try to help set with
setting up an open source monitoring solution for the wikipedia
servers.
