It's Bug Monday again -- pour yourself some coffee and dust off your
Bugzilla boots, cause it's time to stomp us some bugs!
This week's theme is JavaScript issues -- anything and everything
concerning JavaScript compatibility, error handling, graceful
degradation, noscript fallback, or editing of site or user JavaScript pages.
Hell if it even _smells_ like JavaScript, better check it out to be on
the safe side!
Since Bugzilla search URLs are absurdly long, here's a shorter one:

Now git 'er done! We've got us some bugs to confirm and patches to
wrassle up...

Hoi,
When I read the results from the mediawiki-cvs-request, there are many
question marks raised. This is probably to do with the fact that the message
is not an UTF-8 message. It leads to information like "+ 'am-username'
=> '??? ????????',"
I am sure that this text is useless to everyone. Is it possible to send the
message in UTF-8 so that I can read this messages as it is intended ie in a
different script ?
Thanks,
GerardM

Got up with code review and went to put things live on test.wikipedia
for some live testing....
Test is completely borked due to missing magic words; for some reason it
seems to be loading the currently-deployed localization files instead of
the ones in its master copy.
This has been a general annoyance for a long time, but is particularly
disruptive when every page view is blocked by a missing magic word that
isn't even needed for anything. :)
We'll want to figure out what the hell is causing that so we can make
test work before finishing up the pre-deployment testing and updating
the code.
(Sysadmins -- I've disabled scap. You can sync-file individual files as
necessary, but do *not* do a scap or sync-common-all until we've
confirmed everything works!)

Hi all,
As some of you noticed, there are some new features on enwiki search page.
We are in progress of migrating all of our internal search to lucene-search
2.1 running on our brand-new&shiny search cluster. Since not all of the new
servers could be racked at once, we are unracking old ones, and putting new
ones in. As a result, enwiki moved to new cluster, alongside with partially
dewiki, frwiki and jawiki. Others are still on the old cluster.
Two new features to notice on enwiki are:
1) text snippets are now internally handled by lucene-search, which means
more intelligent snippet extraction, and also detection of matches to
redirects and sections.
2) interwiki matches. When a query matches a title from a sister project in
same language, a box on right appears holding the link to the sister project
page. So, for enwiki, a search matching a enwiktionary page will also appear
on the search page. The captions for different projects can be more
intelligent by tunning MediaWiki:search-interwiki-custom. For instance, for
enwiki it could be (format is interwiki:caption per line):
wikt:Wiktionary word definitions
n:Wikinews news results
..
The search should also hopefully give better ranked results than before.
There will be more new features coming up when we update rest of the
software, including the MWSearch plugin used to fetch results from the
search servers. I'll try to keep the community updated as new stuff comes up
and hopefully in few weeks time we will finish the whole migration.
Cheers, Robert
Contributions page show a bunch of links :-(

That's nice and all. But fighting vandalism/puppets/stuff, could be
better to create a "aggregate".
This aggregate will show the contributions, as diffs.

Hello!
You are receiving this email because your project has been selected to
take part in a new effort by the PHP QA Team to make sure that your
project still works with PHP versions to-be-released. With this we
hope to make sure that you are either aware of things that might
break, or to make sure we don't introduce any strange regressions.
With this effort we hope to build a better relationship between the
PHP Team and the major projects.
If you do not want to receive these heads-up emails, please reply to
me personally and I will remove you from the list; but, we hope that
you want to actively help us making PHP a better and more stable tool.
The second release candidate of PHP 5.2.7 was just released and can be
downloaded from http://downloads.php.net/ilia/. Please try this
release candidate against your code and let us know if any regressions
should you find any. The goal is to have 5.2.7 out within two to three
weeks time, so timely testing would be extremely helpful.
In case you think that other projects should also receive this kinds
of emails, please let me know privately, and I will add them to the
list of projects to contact.
Best Regards,
Ilia Alshanetsky
5.2 Release Master
Dear Sir/Madame
I would like to ask for a specific kind of download if possible ...
Let me first start mentioning what exactly I'm working on. I am building a
specific-structured semantic network of words in biographies in Wikipedia.
The network will save the relation between a certain occupation and words
related to this occupation (according to what is mentioned in the articles
in the corpus). Hence it would be so efficient to have the biographies with
tagging of the profession/occupation. From what I noticed the biographies
are ordered according to the occupation or to the name. So is it possible
for me to have the biographies ordered according to occupation?
Last but not least, I am working on this project for my thesis in master of
Artificial Intelligence in Katholieke Universiteit Leuven - Belgium.
Any help will be highly appreciated
Thanks and Best Regards
Rula
