Hi,
I think it would be useful to have a way of seeing all the redirects
for a given page, presented as a list of "aliases" that could easily
be modified. It's currently not particularly easy to be sure that all
the given permutations/combinations of spelling of a name exist. "What
links here" mixes them in with other links, for instance. It's also
fairly tedious to add redirects, particularly if you have to do it for
a number of articles at a time.
So I was thinking it might be nice - if someone, such as an SoC'er :)
- had the time, to display all the redirects to a given page in an
editable format. At its simplest, it could be a simple multi-line edit
box with a redirect on each line. When you add new lines, they would
be converted to new redirects. Deletion of redirects via this method
would require consideration...

Later today - around 18.00 UTC - we will be performing network
maintenance to improve network redundancy, reliability and performance.
We hope that this will be more or less transparent, but it's not
impossible that interruptions occur around that time. Of course, we will
try to keep that to a minimum.

I updated my wiki (gondi-online.de) from 1.4 to 1.5.
In the old version I added a line to localsettings to allow accounts
beginning with small letters. I added the same line in the new version,
but it did not work. I found no other information.
could anybody help me?
Thanks a lot

Bonjour,
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Aide:URL -> # 1 URL dans les liens externes
Hello
As I was pointed out by Plyd, the french wiki has an extension in css,
such that indentation in talk pages is emphasised via a border.
Could that be also implemented for the english and german wiki?
I also would recommend to use
- : for indentation in article
- : For indentation with border in the talk pages and
- > For the usual indentation in the talk pages
It would be more logical to do it the other way around > for
indentation with border : for without, but maybe most people would
find that to confusing.

I'd like to announce the creation of a new mailing list dedicated to
centralising discussion regarding MediaWiki internationalisation.
Details can be found at
http://mail.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/mediawiki-i18n.
MediaWiki's support for multiple languages, and the provided
translations, is dependent upon volunteers to maintain the language
files the software uses, and it's fair statement to point out that a
lot of these are out of date or missing entries.
When a developer adds a new feature which requires an interface
message, it's added to the English-language localisation files, and
sometimes the files corresponding to another language, if spoken, e.g.
I might add a new feature and provide English and French messages.
This doesn't help other languages, such as German or Russian.
Likewise, removals or renaming of messages don't propagate to other
languages (although I intend to write a couple of quick scripts to
help make this convenient), leaving obsolete messages behind.
What would be awesome is if each language had a maintainer who was
active in helping to keep their specific language up to date. Some
languages do seem to have de facto maintainers; Rotem Liss, for
example, has adopted Hebrew, and we receive frequent patches from him
in response to updates we make.
I'd therefore like to take this opportunity to extend a welcome to
anyone interested in helping to clean up their spoken language's
translations to join the list and see what it's all about and what
needs doing. I am, of course, happy to answer questions prospective
maintainers have, and Niklas Laxström is another figure you might want
to contact.

Hello,
Have a look at this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Stevage/mwreuropeancapitals#…
Here, I have transcluded about 10 articles into one. Some of the sub
articles use the new referencing system. Unfortunately here, the Rome
article only actually defines 1 reference, but ends up with 58,
because all the references defined in earlier articles transcluded
into the parent article are shown again.
Is there a workaround? Could this bug be fixed? The simplest solution
would appear to be making <refs> only be shown the first time a
<references> section is used. In subsequent <references> sections they
should not be shown.
Thanks,
Steve
