hmm, so I was thinking about the performance hit from the extra difflib call. There are two
choices:
put ALL non-registered users under a separate process that is niced to be of lower priority
(higher nice) than the registered version.
OR simply use an if statement to only do the difflib/anti-troll call for non-registered.
If you agree with me that trolling is an issue and that my solution is effective (or some derivate
of it yet to be chiseled out), then it will be FACT that non-registered users will put more hit on
the server, thus its logical to put them at a lower priority (something that ALSO will be an
anti-troll mechanism).
ALSO, i believe that one 50 character add/delete (as discussed in previous message) should result
in automatic write-blocking until they make the effort to write an email (or use some web
interface) explaining their actions.
There are NO anonymity/privacy issues from making someone register.

My apologies if someone already noticed this before, but there
seems to be some major bug in la.wikipedia.com at the moment.
Every link takes one back to the main page. I made a check, and
the other phase I wikipedias do not seem to have the same problem.

I'll be back home and returning to Wikipedia duty on August 1. Either that or lost somewhere in Sweden after being unable to make a train connection. We'll see...

take http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Hall_problem for example.
There are clearly more than one group of == =='s (section)
ive noticed that also TOC doesnt show up when there is only 1 section.

Hi,
I've committed a new version of the stable branch to CVS. This is mostly
identical to the current unstable version but does not contain Magnus'
incomplete Interlanguage Links or Category features (not even the
translation strings for it). I will update the English wiki to that
version ASAP, where it will run for a few days. If it works fine, the
other wikis will be updated as well.
I have also uploaded a tarball of that codebase to our SourceForge home:
http://wikipedia.sourceforge.net/phase3.tgz
I encourage all Wikipedia spin off projects to update to the new code.
Regards,
Erik
It seems that my previous email has been ignored. :(
The new LanguageZh.php has been completed, and it is now fully
localised. Please kindly install it on the server. It can be found at
http://meta.wikipedia.org/wiki/LanguageZh.php
Another question I want to ask is if it is possible to have two locales
for Chinese Wikipedia, so that users can choose their own character
settings(traditional or simplified). Currently the interface is
translated to simplified Chinese. I think it would be very ugly to
combine the two together, and it is not easy to translate also.

After all my bad-talk about Wikiphilosophy being
violated -- Im in agreement with Erik that different
ways of looking at wikipedia more dynamically, more
focused, more intuitively -- like an intelligent
category scheme, etc. Im not opposed to.
But I like to boil things down to the essentials -- A
category scheme, in addition to doing most of that
other stuff, should also not be limited to a
particular *language, rather be a way of giving
dynamic content from the whole of WP content, based on
wholistic databasing approach. -- i.e language as
simply a factor of a page, rather than a separate web
location. There could be a universal numbering system
for categories that is different only by the language
its targeting. ---
Kinda getting into Ebay territory there, but hey -- as
far as Wiki goes -- Wikipedia is the Ebay of Wikis.
Gadzooks! you say? I understand these different
efforts are underway -- I just not sure if the
language issue is being considered as much as I (me)
would like it to be.

There has never been any trouble with anons??
Thus, we should look at hard data, namely the ratio of banned IP's from registered users, and NOT.
To answer this question O(1) code must be written.
In irc just now, taw and I discussed the above. He even asks "maybe we should restrict editing of
even registered users".
Given the lack of solid information I was looking for, my brain cant work this fast at infereing
and simulating for this one task ;-). i need to let the ideas settle in while hopefully some good
commentary can be made.
