Hi,
Mozilla 1.5 (Windows version at least) seems to have toasted support for
however Wikipedia is implementing the <hr> tag...
A problem with Mozilla or with our HTML/CSS?

Hi.
On Oct 14 2003, at 23:24, I created an entry for "KDM" using the
username "Alexbatko".
Some minute ealier, I had created that account (Alexbatko), but in
the heat of the moment my mouse went nuts and it must have pasted
the wrong set of characters into the password field.
So the problem is that I can't log back into my account because I
don't know what characters were pasted into the password text box.
I realised this once I was logged in, but at that point I had
already cleared the mouse buffer. To try to resolve the problem, I
went into preferences and saw that my email address
"abatko(a)cs.mcgill.ca" was set. So I tried to email the password to
myself by using the corresponding "Mail me a new password" button on
the main login page.
Unfortunately I still haven't received the email.
I've also posted a bug report on sourceforge (bug id# 823808), but
the problem is still unresolved, and i really want to access the
account.
Is it at all possible that someone could manually reset the password
and send it to me?
Thanks a lot!
Hi. I and others are trying to install a mediawiki into iBiblio's server for
a project, and I would like to get some help.
It seems that installation requires command-line php, which is not available
at their server.
Is there any quick work-around that I am missing? Or is this the way it is?
(Or am I simply wrong?) I would appreciate any input.
Best regards,
Tomoaki aka Tomos (on wikipedia)

Of course.
One problem will be for Jimbo to have the information
to decide the ban :-)
And the second will be for people to refrain
themselves :-)))
New wars in perspectives :-(((

Please don't try to ban your own username! Ban a friend's instead (with
permission, of course).
BECAUSE: If you ban yourself, I think you're next attempt to log in (to
unban yourself) will CAUSE YOUR IP ADDRESS TO BE AUTOMATICALLY BANNED.
There is no way for a sysop to unban themselves. Only ANOTHER SYSOP can
do this.
Am I right, Brion/Tim/Magnus/et al., or am I just being my usual
alarmist, over-protective self?

Admins on the English Wikipedia can. But this is a very new feature, maybe it
is not installed on fr.wikipedia yet. Try to ban your own user name to see if
it works.
>What to do if a logged vandal attack our favourite Wikipedia???
That is why Tim wrote the feature.

How hard would it be to create a "soft ban" on certain IP number ranges?
To thwart a troll, we may have occasion to block, say, all IP's from
142.177.0.0 to 142.177.255.255 -- to prevent someone like EofT from
posting anonymously to Wikipedia and thereby evade a hard ban.
(See Jimbo's e-mail at
http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2003-October/007411.html )
Contributors with IP addresses in that range would be required to log
in.
Also, would it be possible to flag users in that range automatically,
for monitoring?
