Hello everyone,
In Punjab, India, we have been working on GLAM Wiki Project with government
institutions of Punjab along with our community, a partnership we have
maintained over the last year with numerous meetings with the officials.
This year, like last year, we are putting a project grant proposed by Open
Heritage Foundation in 2020 round. We have successfully completed the 2019
project and are now moving forward with the second phase of the project
which has now grown in scale with a non profit that we have built and grown
over the past year.
Open Heritage Foundation is a non-profit based in India that works on
focussed GLAM initiatives in alignment with Wikimedia's strategic direction.
This project is a Glam wiki project centered around Community growth
supported by the GLAM partnerships for content generation, Integration with
Community engagement around Wikisource and Wikidata, Wikipedia integration
via the new tools we are creating in this project grant and the last and
one of the crucial elements of the project is improving and expanding the
readership scale for Wikisource project.
We will also be supporting other Communities via our micro grants and skill
sharing knowledge pool that we have collected and grown over the years.
We lack adequate sources for citations for curating local encyclopedia
content. To improve that, we need projects like these to generate that data
so we can document our local knowledge with adequate sources to support
that work, similar to the oral wiki project idea that talks about covering
the indigenous knowledge sources with non traditional sources of
information and knowledge creation.
Please feel free to ask any questions if you want to understand more about
the project or have any questions for more clarification.
We look forward to your feedback, advice and suggestions for improvement in
the proposal. We also welcome you to join us as Advisors and collaborators
to work together for the success of the project.
Regards,

spotkaniu.

PS: właściwy problem jest opisany w postscriptum maila.

Cześć Aniu.
Mam kilka pytań doczyczących sprzecznych informacji / nieścisłości w
rozliczeniu grantów:
https://pl.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikigranty/zasady_refundacji i zostało to
zaakceptowane przez księgowość.
3. WG 2019-25 i WG 2019-26 jakoś dugo są nierozliczone; wiesz może coś o
przyczynach? Czy Jacek Halicki tak długo zwleka z przysłaniem
rozliczenia? Zwykle mu się to nie zdarzało. Czy mam go pogonić?
Ankry
PS. Zauważyłem, że pomimo zastrzeżeń księgowości w korespondencji
skierowanej do Nostriksa, na stronie
https://pl.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikigranty/zasady_refundacji nadal
wiem do kogo kierować ewentualne prośby o wyjaśnienie. Bo chyba nie do
całego zarządu?
Hi all,
The "Wikisource" MediaWiki extension has just been enabled on all
Wikisources. For now, this extension contains only the piece of code
allowing to fill the "In other projects" navigation section based on
the Wikidata "edition of" (P629) property. In the future this
extension aims to store code customizing MediaWiki shared by all
Wikisources.
This is the first step to solve the "Inter-language link support via
Wikidata" wish that arrived 4th in the Community Wishlist survey. [2].
A working example is available on the English Wikisource [3]. You
could see that on this page there is a "Wikipedia" link in the "In
other projects" sidebar. This link does not come from the wikitext
code of the page, and not from the Wikidata item connected to the page
(Q15854278) either but from the Wikidata item Q936276 that is the
"work" entity of "The Wind in the Willows". The property "edition of"
(P629) connects the "edition" Wikidata item (connected to the
Wikisource page) to the "work" item. It is this property that the
Wikisource extension is using to find a link to Wikipedia to display
in the "In other projects" sidebar if the Wikidata item connected to
the page (here the "edition" item) does not provide a link to
Wikipedia.
This, of course, works not only for Wikipedia but for all the sister
projects displayed in the sidebar (Commons, Wikiquote...).
Cheers,
Thomas

Hello everyone,
Some of you might know me already but I will still reintroduce myself. I am
Satdeep Gill and I work in the Community Programs (GLAM) team at the
Wikimedia Foundation, and my work is heavily focused on supporting
Wikisource. I have been working on documenting various pain points and case
studies around Wikisource and I will be coordinating with the Community
Tech team if any of the Wikisource-related proposals
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Wishlist_Survey_2020/Wikisource>
get voted among the top 5 in Community Wishlist Survey 2020
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Wishlist_Survey_2020>. Voting
began yesterday and will run until December 2, 2019.
As you already know, 2020’s Community Wishlist Survey will be focused on
Wikimedia projects other than Wikipedia, Commons and Wikidata. The
Community Tech team at the Foundation will then work on the top 5 proposals
voted by the community. This means that there is a significant chance that
Wikisource will be receiving more attention this year! To support this
process, I wanted to share some potentially helpful context gathered from
my time talking with Wikisource communities in India.
Based on a workshop I participated in recently with the Indic community at Wiki
Advanced Training 2019
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CIS-A2K/Events/Wiki_Advanced_Training/2019>
organized by CIS-A2K <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CIS-A2K>, I have
created a list of top priorities for the Indic Wikisource community. This
might be useful to the global Wikisource community in evaluating Wishlist
proposals, and I have identified specific proposals that closely match
these priorities. They are:
1.
Tools/scripts across various Wikisources - There are many scripts/tools
that exist on some Wikisources and not on others. There isn’t enough
documentation available to easily localize and integrate them in other
Wikisources. (Similar to the proposal
Migrate_Wikisource_specific_edit_tools_from_gadgets_to_Wikisource_extension
2020 proposal
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Wishlist_Survey_2020/Wikisource#M…>
)
2.
VisualEditor for Wikisource/Improving the Proofreading Interface -
Wikisource uses a lot of templates and VisualEditor for Wikisource needs to
be designed accordingly. (Similar to UI_improvements_on_Wikisource 2020
proposal
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Wishlist_Survey_2020/Wikisource#U…>
)
3.
Tool to integrate book viewing with pagelist creation and identity page
scan errors - the workflow for creating pagelist could be improved by an
integrated bookviewer for PDF/DJVU files improving the page identification
experience and allowing for adding/removing errored pages from a scanned
file. (Similar to the proposal Index creation wizard 2020 proposal
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Wishlist_Survey_2020/Wikisource#I…>
)
Check the entire report from the Wiki Advanced Training at the link given
below:

Besides these, it might also be worthwhile to consider the following
proposal around supporting inter-wiki links on Wikisource:
-
Inter-language_link_support_via_Wikidata 2020 proposal
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Wishlist_Survey_2020/Wikisource#I…>
Once again, don't forget to vote on your favorite proposals before December
2, 2019 as the Community Tech team will be working on the top 5 voted
proposals.
Feel free to reach out to me at sgill(a)wikimedia.org, in case you want to
discuss any of the above, or to further discuss needs and strategies for
Wikisource.

Hello everyone,
It's exciting that this year's Community Wishlist is focusing on Wikimedia
projects other than Wikipedia, Commons and Wikidata. There are already 35
proposals related to Wikisource
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Wishlist_Survey_2020/Wikisource>
.
Based on a workshop with at Wiki Advanced Training 2019, I have created a
list of top 5 priorities for Indic Wikisource community. This might be
useful to the global Wikisource community to improve proposals and
prioritize once voting begins.
Most of the proposals have already been submitted in some of the other form
but one top priority from the Indic community is still missing:
*Easy (Automated/Semi-automated) Transclusion of Proofread/Validated
Indexes*
Today is the last day to submit proposals, please feel free to submit this.

Hi,
As the Wikimedia Summit 2019 ended recently, it would be great if the
representative from Wikisource User Group can share his experience and
submit a report.
