Just FYI.
We have restored in plwikisource the old, fast, light and efficient toolbar as a gadget:
https://imgur.com/a/DFVhaeu
It fundamentally has the same functionality as the just removed build-in version (only the CodMirror icon is missing; but nobody in pl.ws seems to use this tool).

Hi all,
The deadline is short and to avoid the confusing vote by email of last
year, we created a page on meta to decide who will be the representative of
the user group to the Wikimedia Summit:
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikisource_Community_User_Group/Wikimedia_S…>*
The vote will be in two parts:
- starting tomorrow and for a week, people can add their name and a short
explanation on who they are and why they want to go to the summit
- next week, the community vote to designate the representative
For the context, Wikimedia Summit will be in Berlin, 29 March - 2 April
2019 (last year, it was called "Wikimedia Conference" and "Chapters
Meeting" the previous years).
Here is a short report on what happened last year:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Conference_2018/Wikisource_Commun…
.
This year, fewer people are invited (one instead of two for us) and the
summit will focus on strategy and governance.
As usual, feel free to ask more and any question.
*Disclaimer: I probably won't candidate myself, except if there is 2 or
less candidates.*
Cheers,
For the Wikisource Community User Group,
Nicolas Vigneron
Hi,
Jayprakash from IndicTechCom has developed a tool to OCR by using Google
Drive API - https://tools.wmflabs.org/indic-ocr/
The tool can be accessed in Wikisources by loading this js -
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Indic-TechCom/Script/IndicOCR.js
The tool was developed as Google OCR by Cloud Vision API was not supporting
Malayalam, Telugu, Oriya, Gujarati and Kannada. So, the OCR button created
by Community tech was not working for this language Wikisources. The new
button will support these languages as well all other languages supported
by Google Drive API
Also, by introduction of this tool, we now have 4 options to OCR in
Wikisource. :-)

Bodhisattwa

Subject: [Translators-l] Fwd: AdvancedSearch announcement: looking for
translation support
To: <translators-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Dear all,
the Advanced Search interface will soon become a default feature on
all wikis. Its deployment is planned for November 28.
The feature adds an advanced parameter form to the Special:Search page
in order to make already existing advanced search options such as
"intitle" or "subpageof" more visible and accessible for everyone. It
also changes the way namespaces can be selected.
We want to announce the upcoming deployment on village pumps with this
short message: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Johanna_Strodt_(WMDE)/Advanced_Search_…
The feature has already been deployed to deWP, arWP, faWP and huWP, so
we're now looking for translations in other languages.
We're planning to publish the message on Monday, Nov 26, around 11 am
UTC. Therefore it would be great to have the translations ready by
Monday November 26, 7 am UTC.
Thanks a lot. Any support is very appreciated!
Johanna

Hi all!
The voting period is now opened until 30 November.
You can see the proposals for Wikisource and enter your votes here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Wishlist_Survey_2019/Wikisource
It is *very* important to vote (even if you don't fully agree on how the
proposal is written), the Foundation tech team looks at all proposals but
only the top 10 wishes are sure to be addressed. So the more vote there is,
the better chance that the team will spend time and resource on the
proposal.
Cheers,
Nicolas
Hi everybody,
I just wanted to make sure there will be some wikisourcerers at this
event. Is that so?

Subject: Re: [Wikimedia-l] November 30 deadline for new Project Grant
proposals
To: Wikimedia Mailing List <wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Hi folks,
The open call for Project Grants is officially underway! As you prepare
your proposals this month, please keep in mind that the final deadline is
November 30th, and that this will be only the only open call for Project
Grants during this fiscal year, which ends on June 30th, 2019. To learn
more about this grant program and how to prepare an application, please
visit our landing page on Meta. <
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project>
In addition to the resources mentioned in the prior announcement, we have
scheduled some proposal clinics where applicants will be able to discuss
their proposals or ask questions with Wikimedia Foundation staff using
Google Meet or using IRC. Some of these will be themed toward specific
topics (such as proposals involving a GLAM-related project), and others
will be more general. For a list of scheduled proposal clinics, please
review the Project Grants landing page on Meta. <
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project#Upcoming_events>. Additional
clinics may be added throughout the month.
Thanks,
Chris
