I do not recollect being contacted for any such thing and don't even
remember any discussion on Chotaro (village pump) where community would
have concluded so.

Thanks Nitika for the update,
I went through the link that you have provided.
Regarding language selection criteria, one of the point out of four given
points, is:
>*Willingness of that particular language
community to interact and
engage with the A2K team.* Though we tried approaching
other language
communities,
>we were given to understand that they would
like to consider engaging
with us at a later point. We have respected the
community's decision and
are open to
>work with a couple of language areas later in
time.
Did you approach Gujarati Wikipedia in similar manner? I have kept two
admins of Guj. wiki. so that they also come to know about my question.
*>>Familiarity of the A2K team members with the language.* Each of us are
editors/can edit in most of the above language Wikipedias.
>This will give us an insider's perspective
of what is happening in that
particular language community and the Wikimedia
projects.
that is mentioned as the last point, it sounds like this was the only
criterion that worked towards selection of languages. and I feel it is nice
way to say that "these are the languages that we like and hence we started
working on it.
Awaiting some lights on this.
Best regards,
