proposals
To: Wikimedia Mailing List <wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Hi folks,
The open call for Project Grants is officially underway! As you prepare
your proposals this month, please keep in mind that the final deadline is
November 30th, and that this will be only the only open call for Project
Grants during this fiscal year, which ends on June 30th, 2019. To learn
more about this grant program and how to prepare an application, please
visit our landing page on Meta. <
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project>
In addition to the resources mentioned in the prior announcement, we have
scheduled some proposal clinics where applicants will be able to discuss
their proposals or ask questions with Wikimedia Foundation staff using
Google Meet or using IRC. Some of these will be themed toward specific
topics (such as proposals involving a GLAM-related project), and others
will be more general. For a list of scheduled proposal clinics, please
review the Project Grants landing page on Meta. <
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project#Upcoming_events>. Additional
clinics may be added throughout the month.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi all,
Due personal circumstances I sadly can't be present at the GLAMwiki
Conference in Tel Aviv this year.
My question for everyone going there is to help promote the newsletter *This
Month in GLAM* is more people share there stories, best practices and
initiatives so we all can learn from it.

Thanks!

Calling all event organizers interested in the coming Event Metrics tool: As the Community Tech team has started working on the first two of six new reports planned for the tool, we’ve learned a lot about what numbers we can and can’t get at scale from our databases. In response, our plans have had to evolve.
In this post [1], I lay out details on which of the metrics we’d planned to include we’re now either adapting, delaying or dropping. We’re interested in your feedback, so please have a look and let us hear from you!
Yours,
Joe

Hey all,
Has anyone tried Wikimedia activities with Prison Libraries? Seems like a
really cool opportunity to highlight offline Wikipedia etc?
Cheers,
Alex

Subject: [IFLA-L] Prison Libraries
To: ifla-l(a)infoserv.inist.fr <ifla-l(a)infoserv.inist.fr>
Dear IFLA community,
For an upcoming *publication on prison libraries*, I am currently looking
for people (for example prison librarians) who can share experiences from
their countries, including different approaches and policy environments for
prison education and prison libraries. I am also looking for articles,
photos, existing case studies, etc.
The publication will be the first international, comparative publication on
the role and potential of prison libraries. It will provide an overview of
the contribution that books and libraries in prison can make in supporting
a reading culture, increasing literacy skills and preparing inmates for
their socio-professional integration after their release.
The international policy environment for prison libraries will be
described, particularly the IFLA Guidelines for Library Services to
Prisoners. It is foreseen to launch the publication at the IFLA conference
in 2019.
I very much look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Lisa Krolak
