I have no intentions of upgrading past the 2.8.x branch.
2.9 introduced the new change screen and deprecated the old one. This change is going to confuse people to no end and would be a very bad idea so close to a move to another tool--even though it's months out, yes.
The change we're talking about (freeform tagging) isn't coming until at least 2.10 (2.11 possibly, if it just landed in master).
So yeah, it's nice that they've done it. I think it's a day late and a buck short for us though.
