There are some things in the API: namespace on
mediawiki.org that
could be a good starting point. Maybe [[API:Quick start guide]] or
[[API:FAQ]]. I wrote a bit of both once, but never had the time to
make them into something decent. I believe other people have edited
those pages since, but I've never really looked at them again.
