Indeed - it hit the Danish twitterverse hardtime yesterday, when two of my favourite cultural heritage people got to talk about it.
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API has a bunch of information to help, including links to a video of a tutorial and the API sandbox to practice and help with queries.
If I would be helpful, then I will at that point be based in Maastricht, NL, and very happy to have an excuse to go to Denmark!
