Cool! I had a hack that did something similar, and then worked on
integrating it directly into WikiEditor, but got bogged down and have
been on other projects.
Our hack also "exports" your MediaWiki login identity directly into
Etherpad (not lite, alas).
I talked about it back in May at WMDE. I literally was going to work on
finalizing and publishing that tomorrow.
I still am interested in your project though because it's far more
likely that we'd run a Node service than the Rube Goldberg machine of
Java running JavaScript (plus all the other stuff needed by regular
Etherpad, such as OpenOffice, believe it or not).
