Which is why it should be a personal choice of wether it shows up or not. To me the simplest way to fix this is to make sharing through something like facebook an opt in account level feature.
This would mean that you opt in to facebook sharing fully knowing that your adhering to their data policies. Some people are clearly ok with this and and we should honor their request but not at the cost of other users privacy.
That way anyone who wants it can knowingly opt in and get it while everyone else wont see it if they don't want to.
