In fact, they *lost* the ability to automatically wrap text.
They thought that was an acceptable tradeoff for gaining the ability to wrap *received* text if it was too long to fit. ^^^^^^^^
I've just proven why that's a bad tradeoff.
I don't understand your proof and I also don't know any CLIs or text editors that don't automatically wrap text (if so configured).
