You can change the language of the Commons interface in your preferences, instead of using the ?uselang= parameter all the time.
As other peoples correctly pointed out, it is not convenient to select the language manually in user's options (especially for anonymous, who should not have options). One expects his smaller wiki language code to be seamlessly "copied" to commons (perhaps by passing uselang then making it persistent via the cookie). It can be done for anonymous, too. If that would hugely increase squid servers load, then perhaps only few selected namespaces (NS_SPECIAL's, Commons: whatever the code is) will use such cookie, at least.
